How to Get Rid of Freckles Naturally : 12 Simple Tips

Freckles – The teeny tiny spots on your face that appear out of nowhere and ruin all our beauty goals. The biggest, the worst and the most inevitable kind of enemy that stands between you and your dreamy flawless skin. You look in the mirror and you can actually feel these spots mocking you, for all the efforts you put into getting a clear and flawless skin and yet they somehow manage to pop up. Some girls might even think of them as nature’s curse. Well! a part of that is true. Freckles are a result of direct exposure to sun. Melanin protects our skin from the harmful radiations of the sun. The UV-B rays of the sun triggers excessive production of melanin which cause freckles to become darker and more visible. But that doesn’t mean that there is no way to get rid of this curse. With a few natural remedies you can bid adieu to these freckles forever.

12. Lemon Juice:

Lemon juice is a natural bleaching agent. Applying lemon juice on affected area will fade freckles and make them less noticeable. You can add lemon juice to your face pack, or your toner. You can also apply the juice directly on the affected area and keep it overnight, so that your skin absorbs the juice properly. However, don’t forget to apply moisturiser after washing the juice off.

Eating raw tomatoes prevents freckles and gives a healthy glow to the skin. Tomatoes contain a lots of vitamin C, which is a tyrosinase inhibitor. Tyrosinase promotes the production of melanin. Thus adding tomatoes to your skin care regime can help you prevent freckles.

10. Milk mask:

The lactic acid in milk peels away the top layer of skin, making freckles lighter in appearance. So using milk based masks can result in a miracle for your skin. Apply some sour cream directly over the affected skin areas and let it soak into your skin till it dries up.  Instead of washing it off your face with water, wipe it off gently with a soft tissue or a towel. The lactic acid in sour cream or milk will peel away the upper layer of your skin.

Mix one teaspoon of cucumber juice with two teaspoons of water. Apply the mixture on your freckles. ( You can apply this mixture all over the face also). Massage your face with your fingertips , so that the juice gets absorbed properly. Allow it to dry and wash it off after 15 minutes. Cucumber is rich in potassium and contains a certain amount of carotene, vitamin C, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, carbohydrates, protein, phosphorus, iron and other nutrients. As a result, eating cucumber regularly can eliminate the freckles and whiten the skin.

8. Fruit peel:

Blending fruits together, applying onto your face, and then letting the mask sit on your face till it dries out is the best natural way to peel off the top damaged layer of your skin and fade away the freckles. Gently wipe off the dried mask which will help to peel away the damaged skin cells. Make it a point to add a citrus fruit in  the mask. The vitamin C present in citrus fruits is an excellent fighter against freckles.

7. Potato juice:

Grate a potato and extract its juice . Apply the juice on the affected area and leave it to dry. Allow the skin to absorb the juice. Wash it off after 10 minutes. Potato juice will not only fight against freckles, but also lighten your skin tone.

6. Honey:

Honey is another ingredient with natural bleaching properties that can help minimize the appearance of freckles. It reduces the excess production of melanin and thus prevents skin pigmentation. Take a teaspoon of pure raw honey and mix it with lukewarm water. Apply the paste on affected area, and allow it to dry for 10 to 20 minute and then wash it off.

5. Almond oil:

Almonds bleach the skin and reduce the pigmentation of the freckles. The oil contains vitamin A and E which nourish the skin and reverse oxidative stress damage. First you must warm the almond oil using indirect heat. This can be done by placing a metal bowl , containing almond oil into boiling water. Once the oil is warm enough, apply it on your skin. Massage your face gently with your fingertips in circular motion. Leave it on for 20 to 30 minutes and then rinse with water.

4. Apple Cider Vinegar:

The malic acid in apple cider vinegar exfoliates the darkened skin cells to reveal lighter skin below your freckles. Apply some diluted apple cider vinegar on the face and massage gently. Let it dry for a few minutes and then wash it off. However make sure that you don’t use concentrated apple cider vinegar as that may result in serious skin issues.

3. Carrot juice:

Boil and mash a fresh carrot and squeeze out the juice, then apply the fresh juice on the face every morning and evening after you have washed your face.  Carrot is rich in provitamin A, which  changes to vitamin A in the body.  Vitamin A has the effects of moistening and strengthening the skin, and can also prevent and treat rough skin and freckles. Including carrots in your diet, will also be very helpful in fighting against freckles.

2. Amla:

Amla extracts contain ellagic acid and gallic acid, which are scientifically proven to lighten the skin by inhibiting the process of melanin formation. You can either buy packaged amla powder or make your own amla powder by drying the fruit under the sun. This will take 10 to 15 days depending on the quantity of amla. Next grind the dry amla fruits in a mixer. Add water or rose water to the powder and make a paste. Use the paste as a face mask. Using the mask twice a week will fade away the freckles.

1. Buttermilk:

Buttermilk is soothing and cooling for the skin. It contains mild acids that lighten the complexion along with lightening the freckles and other dark spots. Buttermilk can be applied directly on the skin. Use 1 to 2 tablespoons of buttermilk daily and eventually all the freckles will fade away.

Note: All of the above being said, the best way to avoid freckles is sun protection. Always wear spf. Protect your skin from the sun rays by wearing hats, scarves etc and minimise your daily exposure to the sun as much as possible.
