Its absolutely true that human capabilities lie beyond one’s figment of imagination. Thus, there are such extraordinary beings amongst us who are capable of performing the unimaginative. Some are born with distinguished talents, some practice, some are supremely brave and some just get lucky. But, sometimes it so happens that people pull off the most bizarre and wackiest stunts in order to break records. Then, there are people who create and break records for their compulsive habit of collecting items. Basically, anything out of the league, out of the box, never seen or done before can get you a mention in history.
The Guinness book of world records is one such platform, also one of the most famous platforms, to get yourself registered into history. The book is launched in an yearly edition format and the collection for its 2017 edition is piling up already. I was particularly amazed with some of the weird and bizarre nature of records that were set.
So, I would thereby like to list my top 10 favourite wacky and bizarre Guinness world records in the 2017 edition:
10. Most fan blades stopped with the tongue in one minute.
Would u ever think to put one of your fingers in a running fan, at maximum speed? I know, I wouldn’t.
But here’s someone who broke world record for attempting a stunt, where she stopped electric fan blades with her tongue, not just once or twice, but 32 times in a minute. Zoe Ellis (A.K.A Zoe L’Amore) is an Australian, has been performing in Circus and dectifying stunts since 15 years. She broke the previous world record of stopping 20 fan blades in one minute and made a new world record on the set of ‘Lo Show Dei Record’ in Milan, Italy.
9. Largest gape.
JJ Bittner’s previous record of 8.4cm long gape, was an unchallenged title for nearly 12 years, Until came Bernd Schmidt. Bernd set a new record in the Guinness World Records (2017 edition) for a having a gape as long as 8.8cm. Bernd says had it not been for his youngest son, he wouldn’t have been in this year’s 2017 edition super stars.
8. Largest Rocking chair.
This might just seem scary and i bet it would work perfectly on the sets of some horror movie, like a prop never used before by any director.
Well, this piece was created by Jim Bolin (USA) that is the largest rocking chair measuring 17.09 m (56 ft 1 in) tall and 9.99 m (32 ft 10 in) wide and depth of each rocker being 9.88 m. This record was verified in Casey, Illinois, USA, on 20 October 2015. This marvellous rocking chair is on display outside of Casey City Hall.
7. Fastest monowheel.
One might wanna fasten seat belt, if they wish to survive, cause this ride is going to be a Spinny, whirly and might make u dizzy.
This amazing record was set by The UK Monowheel Team and Kevin Scott, who recorded a staggering speed of 98.464 km/h (61.18 mph) on their incredible monowheel WarHorse, at Elvington Airfield in North Yorkshire, UK. It wasn’t easy at all to achieve this Guinness World Records title, as the monowheel had to be run solely on power produced by its engine and the speed had to be timed from a flying start over a distance of no less than a quarter mile (402 metres).
6. Largest foot rotation.
Yet again, any horror movie casting director looking for a character who can rotate feet, must approach Maxwell day for the job – No VFX required.
Yes its true, Maxwell Day holds the Guinness World Record for the largest foot rotation verified in London, UK. He beat the previous record made by Moses Lanham, by a huge difference of 37 degrees. It is quite a miracle that, Maxwell can in fact rotate both his feet, with the record value being for his right foot, and his left foot rotating 143 degrees. Day claims that it isn’t painful for him and not only can he rotate his feet standing still, he can even walk with them rotated too.(Who knows, whether he is walking backwards or forwards).
5. Largest collection of hamburger-related items.
We all droll over Hamburgers, but HAMBURGER HARRY’s fascination over Hamburgers goes way beyond.
4. Most ice cream scoops balanced on a cone.
I scream, you scream, we all scream for Icecream(True for all ice cream lovers). But, Dimitri Panceira’s love for icecream is way too much than u could ever imagine. The same is clearly reflected in his Guiness world record, where he balanced 121 icecrem scoops on a cone. Dimitri beat his own record of 109 to achieve yet another Guinness World Records title.
3. Most tricks performed by a cat in a minute.
Kitties are adorable, but to make them work, is quite the task.
Didga and her owner Robert Dollwet in Tweed Heads, New South Wales, Australia, on 5 February 2016, made history, when Didga performed 24 tricks on a skateboard in just 1 minute.Didga performed tricks in great variety ranging from rolling over to jumping over a bar whilst on a skateboard. Facsinatingly, Didga performed independently, without any commands from Robert whatever.
2. Largest collection of coprolites.
Here anyone would like to ask 2 questions-
Coprolites? Answer: Fossilized feces (An obvious reaction that follows) – Ewwww and the obvious question that follows: Why Collection of Coroprolites? Answer: let’s ask Mr. George Frandsen.
1. Longest distance pulled by a horse while on fire.
How could someone in their right minds ever dream of doing something like this, I guess people can actually do anything bizarre to get them in the pages of the Guinness World records book.
Josef Tödtling (Austria) in Teichalm-Fladnitz, Styria, Austria, on 27 June 2015, created a Guiness world record – being pulled by a horse while on full body burn for 500m. While, making his attempt he had an ATV drive next to him, where the driver of the ATV poured lamp-oil over Josef to keep the flames lit. The Guinness team nicknamed him ‘ Human Torch’, in their 2017 edition.
As Fascinating and mind blowing these acts and records are, it must be remembered, that some of the above mentioned record are extremely dangerous too. Therefore, it is strictly advised not to practice these at home.
